padi Search & recovery

If you have ever been on a dock you know how easy it is to drop items like phones, keys or cylinders… sometimes lucky divers may find treasures! This course will give you the knowledge and skills to be able to safely bring any large items up using a lift bag. The PADI Search and Recovery Specialty course is challenging but also brings a lot of underwater fun!

If you are at least 12 years old and a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or higher you can enrol in the Search and Recovery Specialty course. Also Open Water Divers with a PADI Underwater Navigator certification can join.

What will you learn:

• Swimming search patterns using your compass and natural navigation
• Locating large and small objects using various search patterns
• Using a lift bag for large or heavy objects
• Planning a search based on facts gathered about the lost object

After this course you will be able to gather information and resources to carefully plan a search area to find a missing object and safely bring it up to the surface.

How many dives will you do:

You will complete four scuba dives over two days from our boat or shore.

What equipment will you use:

Apart from using basic scuba equipment, you will use a compass and underwater slates. During the search pattern training you will also use lines, reels and underwater anchor points.
