Dive Centre Procedures

Reducing the risk of virus transmission within the dive centre:

1. The gathering of customers in the shop will be reduced
2. Our staff will continue to follow the strict disinfection procedures
3. Customers with signs and symptoms will not be allowed to participate in any of our activities
4. Access to the dive centre, vehicles and the boat will only be allowed to those participating in diving or snorkelling activities
5. All dive centre rooms and areas of contact will be disinfected twice on a daily basis

Disinfecting rental equipment:

1. All equipment, whether tried on or used will be washed with an approved EPA List N disinfecting solution for 10 minutes and rinsed with fresh water
2. Regulators and masks will be washed in a separate tank with the disinfecting solution for 10 minutes and rinsed with fresh water
3. To minimise contamination, only staff members will be allowed in the wash area

Handling equipment:

1. Regulator mouth pieces, regulator 1st stage inlet and cylinder inlet should not be touched
2. Staff members will use hand sanitiser and follow a strict hand-wash procedure
3. To minimise contamination, equipment will be pre-assembled

Using the BCD:

1. Unless it is an emergency, BCD’s should not be orally inflated
2. All BCDs will undergo the same strict cleaning process as stated above

The regulator mouthpiece:

1. If you wish, we can install your own mouthpiece onto our regulators
2. If you do not own a mouthpiece but would like your own, we sell them starting from €2
3. All mouthpieces will undergo the same strict cleaning process as stated above

Common Questions

Are protective face masks needed?

Is there a risk for the cylinder to become infected whilst it is being filled from a compressor?

This is highly unlikely. The compressor heats the air during the 3 stages of compression to above 70°C and can be at least 180°C as it enters the cylinder. With this exchange of heat, the virus would never survive.

Will alcohol-based hand sanitiser be provided to your staff before handling equipment?

The use of alcohol-based substances should not come into to contact with some scuba equipment, including cylinders and the fill whips that are used with oxygen enriched air as it increases the risk of fire. We will introduce a strict hand washing procedure before the handling of cylinders and compressor. Hand Sanitiser will be used for all other equipment and when entering the dive centre.

How will you reduce the risk of contamination on the boat?

• To respect social distancing the maximum number of divers or snorkellers will be reduced to 4
• Any non-diving or non-snorkelling passengers will not be allowed aboard the boat or vehicles
• Any equipment or personal items not needed for the dive should not be taken
• Only when all equipment has been loaded by staff, divers and snorkellers will be allowed to board the boat
• If you use your own mask, spitting in it is discouraged and anti-fog should be used
• If you are renting a mask, spitting in it is not allowed and anti-fog has to be used – please consider bringing your own mask when possible
• Staff will follow the above hand cleaning procedure when changing cylinders
• Social distancing is important to prevent the spread of a virus, therefore the boat seating arrangement implemented should be followed at all times
• Avoid touching anything whenever possible, including your face
• Divers should continue to maintain social distancing while entering the water, therefore do not crowd together on the surface
• Divers should maintain at least 2m of distance when clearing their nose, sinuses or throat at the surface or after a dive
• The staff will change cylinders during the surface interval with two tank dives
• Divers should only handle their own equipment if required
